What is KAPAP?

KAPAP is a highly developed modern martial art (close quarter combat system) KAPAP’s roots come from Israel’s counter terrorism ‘Yamam‘. It borrows heavily from Ju-Jitsu, Judo, boxing and Muay Thai boxing, adapting it for any given threat.  KAPAP is not restrained by a syllabus or style, there are no gradings or competitions, our primary task is to get you home safely.

Our chief instructor worldwide, Avi Nardia, was an ex training sergeant with the  YAMAM unit in 2003 decided to bring KAPAP to the civilian market with KAPAP UK chief instructor Sam Markey.

The KAPAP beginner course contents

This is basically what you really need to know

Week 1 Situational awareness

The lesson teaches you how to spot danger quicker so you can avoid or if no other option is available make the right choice in dealing with the problem. We will talk about combat indicators (our they going to hit) and what are your rights. How does the law protect you!

Week 2 Defending your personal space

Learn to keep danger at arm’s length, this session will teach you how to protect your personal space. We will be talking about creating a fence, verbal sparring and tactical skills used by experienced door supervisors and police officers.

Week 3 KAPAP principles

What makes KAPAP different to traditional martial arts? KAPAP is a random system created to deal with random violence. So, we have replaced a rigid syllabus with five major principles. Complicated choreographed routines will fail under pressure – rock solid principles don’t.

Week 4 Striking

We will be showing you some easy to learn and highly effective strikes that will neutralise an attacker fast. We will also look at targeting vulnerable points, soft target areas that are not protected by muscle or bone.

Week 5 Choking and grabs

Break away fast from grabs and chokes, applying KAPAP principles

Week 6 Edged weapons awareness

An introduction into edged weapons. Learn how to identify if someone is potentially concealing a weapon. This includes defensive tactics and disarming

Week 7 Trauma first aid

This session we will be showing you basic life saving skills you will not be taught in your First Aid at Work or First Responder courses. General first aid courses teach you how to treat others, but what about yourselves? And how to improvise when you have only a basic first aid kit or non at all.
Note: There will be no accredited certificate

Week 8 Firearms

This session will will cover the increasing threat of illegal firearms. What to do, the difference between real and fake weapons.

Week 9 Short stick method

Simple stick drills used by Commandos in the Second World war. A great equaliser against blades and impact weapons. It’s perfectly legal to carry a walking stick in public.

Week 10 Pressure testing

Putting it all together! The last week we put together some basic scenarios to test your knowledge and how you react under pressure.
