Frequently asked questions

Be a modern day ‘Warrior’, get fit, get confident, get training

If you are planning on joining Viking KAPAP, most of the answers you will need are here

Q: How much is a class?

A: We run two packages for adults.
£40 per month allows you to train twice a week.
Or £60 per month for unlimited training

Please note: All payment is via Direct Debit, we do not accept cash payments. This is non contractual

Q: When do you train?

A: Great Yarmouth club is Mondays nights only from 19.30 -21.30hrs.

We have lots going on in Norwich as we have our own dojo and offer plenty of classes in the week. For more information on classes and times in Norwich please visit our timetable

Q. Do you grade?

A: Yes, we do grade. The syllabus is not ridged, we alway encourage flexible thinking with KAPAP. Belt system is yellow, orange, green, blue, purple, brown and black. Just like BJJ it will take many years to achieve black belt status

Q. What is the difference between KAPAP and Krav Maga

A: KAPAP is very much an open minded, principle based martial art. Both KAPAP and Krav Maga are far removed from the original systems taught in the IDF (Isreali Defence Force). In fact KAPAP under the Avi Nardia Academy doesn’t even consider it’s self as an Israeli system more of a global movement. We consider KAPAP to be ‘One martial art’. Viking KAPAP still keeps very close to a Close Quarter Combat system. We are a self defence group and everything we do is orientated towards this.

Q: What equipment do I need to buy?

A: For hygiene and practical reason we wear Gi’s in class. A medium to heavy weight Judo or BJJ Gi is recommended

16oz boxing gloves, MMA mitts, a gum shield and shin and instep protectors are recommended

Finally, a set of Rattan sticks our an essential item of training. Yes, we can order things for you but we are not a money orientated club…

Q. Do you provide junior classes

A. Yes we provide junior self defence classes. We are very mindful to what we teach. Classes will be aimed at fitness, discipline and more practical martial skills

Thank you for the great training yesterday. It helped me today when an angry employee tried to stab me with a screw driver
Richard Greenaway

Close quarter combat

Direct, straight to the point self defence. KAPAP offers counter measures when dealing with even the most violent of opponents. We build confidence, a survival mindset and fitness.

Practical survival skills - Bushcraft

KAPAP is a survival system and run workshops with experts in the survival field with Alex Mair (Ex Royal Marine) and Fraser Christian (Coastal survival) school.

Edged weapons awareness & disarming

Learn how to spot a potential concealed weapon (awareness). How to react/respond to a robbery and last resort attempt a disarm.

Firearms handling & disarming

At Viking KAPAP we insist that you learn basic firearms handling. Students will learn how to make a weapon safe, understand the mechanics of a pistol and the difference between different pistols and revolvers.

We train with VCRA compliant (blank firing pistols and BB pistols for realism) pistols. In class you will be taught Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's). How to react in a robbery/hostage scenario, evaluate the situation and respond without risking injury to yourself and others.

Remember, their is no 100% guarantee a disarm will work. Is a calculated risk based on the situation and how it develops. Attempting to disarm someone is a last possible resort.

Street grappling

We teach practical easy to learn self defence drills on the ground. KAPAP system teaches Brazilian Jiu Jutsi (Machado school) as a self defence not a sport.
